Vincent McIlduff is the founding partner of Hong Kong-based architectural firm ALT Design & Construction. Established in 2014, the company specializes in designing and building lifestyle properties throughout Asia, with a focus on luxury beachfront villas and ski resorts. Vincent’s passion for construction began at the young age of 12, working alongside his father, a master stonemason. Together, they crafted high-end marble and stone projects, including fireplaces commissioned by the British Royal Family. This early exposure to meticulous craftsmanship fueled his love for architecture. Vincent pursued formal education in Architecture, graduating as valedictorian, before embarking on an international career. His professional journey took him to Rotterdam, where he worked under the legendary architect Rem Koolhaas at OMA (Office for Metropolitan Architecture). By the age of 22, Vincent had risen to become one of the lead designers for Prada’s iconic architectural projects, including the Prada Transformer and the Fondazione Prada in Milan. These projects allowed him to collaborate closely with fashion innovators Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli, further honing his ability to merge luxury design with functionality. During this period, he also contributed to other notable works such as the Taipei Performing Arts Center (TPAC). Vincent later relocated to Hong Kong to take on a significant leadership role, managing the design and construction of Prince Plaza, a 100,000m2 mixed-use tower and podium in Shenzhen, commissioned by China Merchants Group. Following the successful completion of this large-scale project, Vincent launched his own company, ALT Design & Construction at the age of 28. Since its inception, ALT Design & Construction has delivered over 60 bespoke, high-end villas across Asia as well as hotels, retail, and restaurants. Their portfolio spans from the serene beachfronts of Lombok, Indonesia, to the snow-covered slopes of Hokkaido, Japan, solidifying Vincent’s reputation as a leader in luxury architecture and construction in the region.
