A Modern Ski Retreat Designed with Simplicity and Warmth

Nestled in the heart of Hokkaido’s renowned ski town Furano, this modern hotel is a seamless blend of thoughtful architecture and interior design. While the main shell and exterior of the building were expertly crafted by another local architect, ALT played a pivotal role in shaping the interior spaces and producing custom furniture that complements the overall vision.

Our design approach focused on simplicity, introducing subtle material and color accents to infuse the interiors with a sense of warmth and comfort. By carefully selecting finishes and textures, we created spaces that feel modern yet inviting, a perfect retreat for guests seeking solace after a day on the slopes. Large windows frame the surrounding snow-covered landscapes, allowing the natural beauty of Furano to enhance the interiors.

To maximize the project’s value, ALT also produced all the hotel’s furniture in our China-based factory, achieving a significant cost saving for the owner without compromising on quality. This allowed us to deliver bespoke pieces that align perfectly with the architectural style, ensuring a cohesive design that flows effortlessly from the exterior to the interior.
