The residence is carefully set into a steeply sloping site, allowing the architecture to step with the terrain and maximize uninterrupted views toward Mount Yōtei and the surrounding Hanazono hills. This approach not only enhances the visual connection to the landscape but also creates a dynamic spatial experience throughout the home, with each level oriented toward the scenery.
Architecturally, the design draws on contemporary alpine principles, expressed through an exposed timber structural system and the use of natural stone. These materials provide a sense of permanence and warmth while grounding the building within its forested context. The combination of strong structural elements and finely detailed finishes results in a chalet that feels both robust and elegantly crafted.
Interior spaces are defined by a palette of soft, natural materials and warm tones, creating a calm and welcoming atmosphere throughout. Large glazed openings frame the surrounding views and allow natural light to penetrate deep into the interior, reinforcing the connection between inside and out.
The villa features a series of ensuite bedrooms, each oriented toward the landscape to capture views of Mount Yōtei and the rolling hills beyond. Complementing the private accommodation is a carefully curated range of lifestyle amenities, including a dedicated spa area, a tatami room that introduces a distinctly Japanese element to the home, and a children’s entertainment room designed for family use and flexibility.
